Undermountain

Undermountain is a vast and dangerous dungeon located beneath Waterdeep. Created by the mad wizard Halaster Blackcloak, it is a sprawling maze of chambers, tunnels, and levels, each filled with deadly monsters, powerful magic, and ancient treasures. Over time, the dungeon has grown, its depths expanding with new dangers and secrets. The Yawning Portal Inn serves as the primary entrance to the dungeon, and adventurers from all over Faerûn come to test their luck and skill in its dark corridors. Despite its risks, Undermountain is a significant part of Waterdeep’s identity, drawing in treasure hunters, thrill-seekers, and those hoping to make their fortune—or their name—by surviving its depths.
